The device comprises a selective catalytic reduction (SCR) active compound and an alkali salt, where a molar ratio of the SCR active compound to the alkali salt is = 1:0.5. The SCR active compound and the alkali salt are present in a common coating on a substrate. The substrate consists of ceramic, metal, glass, glass ceramic and stone, and is a ceramic or metallic filter body. Independent claims are included for: (1) a coating material; (2) a method for producing a device; (3) a catalytic coating on a substrate; and (4) a method for the purification of gases.
