The flowmeter has an electronic circuit connected with a flow sensor (2) and comprising an output unit for outputting a measurement value of water consumption measurement. A power source is provided for supply of power to the electronic circuit and has an energy generation unit converting external energy into an electrical power to be supplied to the electronic circuit, where the external energy is kinetic energy of water flow and provided by a high frequency circuit. The output unit has a capacitor loaded by the sensor based on water flow rate. An independent claim is also included for a method for water amount measurement with a flowmeter.
