The brake assembly (10) has a friction ring (12), which is directly connected to a wheel hub (14) of a motor vehicle. The wheel hub is polygonal, particularly hexagonal shape, and the friction ring has multiple holding elements (18). The holding elements are provided for lock against rotation of the friction ring only with side surfaces (22) of the wheel hub in an operative connection.
