The internal combustion engine comprises a reformer and a gas dehumidifier or an active adsorber (11). The gas dehumidifier is arranged at the upstream side of fuel flow and/or at the downstream side of the reformer and is arranged in the exhaust stream of the internal combustion engine. At least two gas dehumidifiers are mounted, and an intermediate cooling device and/or an intermediate heating device is arranged between the two gas dehumidifiers. One of the gas dehumidifiers is arranged at the heat-dissipating side at the upstream of a heat exchanger. An independent claim is included for an operating method of internal combustion engine.
