The device (1) has a sensor (3) e.g. path sensor, for detecting actuation at a pedal (2). A pedal simulator (4) e.g. pneumatic pedal simulator, produces a counter force at the pedal. The pedal is mechanically coupled with the simulator. The simulator includes a control element (7) i.e. valve, where the counter force is adjustable by a position of the control element. A control device (8) controls the control element, and produces control signals for the control element based on data and a temporal change of the data of the sensor. The counter force is reduced by the increased temporal change.
