The method involves measuring a current circumference of a wheel with a constant measurement speed of a motor car for a distance, which is defined by two specific car positions predetermined (9) by a satellite navigation. The measured wheel circumference is compensated (11) with respect to the measurement speed by linking the measured wheel circumference with a compensation factor obtained from a characteristic curve for determination of the current wheel circumference for a predetermined parking-speed range, where the characteristic curve varies for front and rear wheels. The characteristic curve is provided in form of a look-up table. An independent claim is also included for a device for determining a current circumference of a wheel of a motor car.
