The machine has a stator comprising a stack of strand segments, where each strand segment has two stator segments (1) and a stator winding. Each stator segment comprises a ring-shaped stator rod (5) at which a pole shoe is formed. The pole shoe is radially inwardly extended and arranged between a rotor and the stator rod. The pole shoe comprises increasing breadth in the circumferential direction, where the increase of the breadth in the direction is reversed proportional to decreasing of axial breadth of the pole shoe. The stator segments are made from pressed or sintered iron powder. The stator winding is molded with insulated plastic. An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing an electric machine.
