The system (1) has a voltage source arranged on a high voltage side (HSS) of the system, and an electrical system load (4) arranged on a low voltage side (NSS) of the system. The high and low voltage sides are interconnected by direct current (DC)/DC converters (5, 6). The voltage source comprises a series connection of cells, where the connection is divided into two partial line sections (2, 3) that are connected in series and parallel to each other. The converters are connected in parallel to the line sections, where voltage outputs of the converters are connected with the low voltage side. The voltage supply is designed as a traction battery. The DC/DC converters are designed as unidirectional buck converters. The cells are designed as battery cells (BZ1-BZn) or double layer capacitors. The electrical system load is designed as an electro-mechanical steering. An independent claim is also included for a method for driving an electrical energy system.
