The suction system (1) has an elongated discharge channel (2), a suction unit (3) for detecting and extracting the gases, a movable belt lifting trolley (4), and an elongated gas entry region (8) with an inlet opening for the entry of detected and extracted gases. A sealing strip (9) is formed gas-tightly with respect to the discharge channel. The sealing strip is raised by the lifting trolley, to open the gas entry region, such that the lifting trolley and the suction unit are mechanically coupled and/or movable with respect to each other.
