The device (200) has an interface (210) switching on the device at an installed subscriber-side telephone connection unit-socket (350). Another interface (220) i.e. foreign exchange station-terminal, switches on a terminal i.e. analog telephone (400). A control device (250) allows the interfaces to be connected over a galvanic connection path. The control device controls switching equipments (230, 240) such that the interfaces are connected over an Internet-protocol based communication path under responding to a switching instruction received by a transmission and receipt unit (260). The foreign exchange station-terminal is designed as an RJ11 socket. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a system with a switching device and an end terminal-connection device (2) a method for carrying out mode change of a subscriber terminal from an analog mode to an internet protocol (IP)-based mode.
