The digital switching network, for telephony, has a receive interface for each incoming connection path and a transmit interface for each outgoing connection path. Each of two TDM switching matrices may connect any receive interface with any transmit interface. Each receive interface has an error-code generator producing an error indicating code for each data sample received. Both data and error code are passed on together to both switching matrices and checked by a comparator in the transmit interface.
