Extracting flavors from a biomaterial comprises: providing the biomaterial in an extractor and passing a gas stream through the biomaterial; directing the gas stream in a collection chamber over/by an absorbent and/or introducing water vapor into the extractor and condensing the gas stream containing the water vapor in a collection chamber; and recycling the gas stream and supplied into the collection chamber from the extractor by a compressor and recycling the gas stream into the extractor from the collection chamber via a throttle valve. Extracting flavors from a biomaterial comprises: providing the biomaterial in an extractor and passing a gas stream through the biomaterial; directing the gas stream in a collection chamber over or by an absorbent and/or introducing water vapor into the extractor and condensing the gas stream containing the water vapor in a collection chamber, where the pressure in the collection chamber is greater than the pressure in the extractor; and recycling the gas stream and supplied into the collection chamber from the extractor by a compressor and recycling the gas stream into the extractor from the collection chamber via a throttle valve.
