The LED module (20) has a group of LEDs (31) which is activated by operation apparatuses (11,12). The group of LEDs is activated so as to output light through a first light exit surface of the LED module, during normal mode. The group of LEDs is activated to output light through second light exit surface of the LED module, during emergency light mode. The shape of first light exit surface is different from that of second light exit surface. Independent claims are included for the following: (1) lighting system; and (2) method for operating LED module.
