The cooking apparatus (10) has a cooking chamber (12) provided with an accessory (20) to support the food. A passive chip (32) such as surface acoustic wave (SAW) chip or bulk acoustic wave (BAW) chip is arranged in the cooking chamber. An interrogation unit comprising a polling antenna (24) and an evaluation unit (28) is provided to receive a reply signal in response to a specific signal sent to the passive chip. The passive chip is arranged such that the load impedance of the chip is detuned by the accessory. Independent claims are included for the following: (1) a support structure for passive chip of cooking apparatus; and (2) a method for recognition of loading of cooking apparatus.
