The fail-safe vehicle coupling coil comprises oscillator arrangements (7,13), and a common ferromagnetic core (6) as a carrier of the inductors (5,12). The former oscillator arrangement operates the system at the operation frequency and the latter oscillator arrangement operates at a frequency deviating from the operation frequency at an independent spectral distance. The high frequency current of the former oscillator arrangement or a level derived from it by a current monitoring unit (3,10) and the frequencies are detected in a frequency monitoring unit (2).
