The electrical plug connector has main contact (5), and an electrical series arrangement (10) formed form auxiliary contact (3) and semiconductor electronics (2). The series arrangement is switched electrical parallel to that main contact. The main contact is obligatorily disconnected before the auxiliary contact when disconnecting the electrical plug connectors. A controller (7) controls the semiconductor electronics such that arc is prevented or reduced when disconnecting the electrical plug connector regardless of the direction of flow of electric current.
