The method involves altering the spatial alignment of fuel cell stack (12) by rotating the fuel cell stack around a vertical axis (32) at an angle of 180[deg] , according to service life of fuel cell system (10). Then, an inlet (14) of a fuel cell stack is connected to an oxidizing agent supply line (16), and an inlet (22) of fuel cell stack is connected to a fuel supply line (24). An independent claim is included for fuel cell system.
