Producing a thermoplastic elastomer composition comprises subjecting (a) a copolymer rubber based on ethylene-alpha -olefin and (b) a resin based on polyolefin in (c) an alkylphenol resin and (d) a metal halide to a dynamic heat treatment in a melt-kneading apparatus, where the component (d) is a powder, and is a mixture of a powder of the component (d) and a particulate material having a volume average particle diameter of 0.1 mu m to 3 mm is continuously supplied to the melt-kneading apparatus.
