The device (12) has a cover (22) that is movable along an opening (14) of a motor vehicle between two positions (A, B), where a portion (C) of the opening is covered in one position and exposed in another position. A luminous element (28) i.e. LED, is held at the cover. An electrical storage device (40) e.g. battery, is held at the cover to supply electric current to the luminous element. The storage device is coupled with a charger (44) and charged with electric current in one of the positions. An independent claim is also included for an arrangement for arranging a cover device at an opening of a motor vehicle.
