The device e.g. multi-function key (1), has a set of control elements (2a, 2b, 3) for tilting a cab of an operator, where the device is actuated outside the cab of the operator. A display (5) displays a tilting state of the cab of the operator. A transmission and/or reception unit is wirelessly linked with another transmission and/or reception unit in a tilting equipment for tilting the cab of the operator over a radio network, a wireless local area network (WLAN) or a mobile data network. A notification for starting of an actual tilting process is displayed on the display. An independent claim is also included for a method for controlling an operating device.
