The steering column has a primary component, particularly a retainer (10) for mechanical connection with the vehicle, and a secondary component, particularly a mounting bracket (8) for prefixing of the steering column at the vehicle during assembly, a detent segment (7) for height adjustment, another detent segment (12) for length adjustment or a lateral flange (11). The primary component and the secondary component comprise a fiber composite material, such as glass, carbon or aramid, plastic or a metallic material. The primary component is integrally connected with the secondary component.
