The method involves providing two components (1,2) made of different materials, such that materials are not weldable with each other. The two components are positioned with respect to each other in to-be-joined position. The extension (4) of first component in the second component is punched, so that a tip (6) of the extension penetrates the rear wall (8) of second component. The tip of the extension is reshaped, so that the deformed tip is engaged with the rear wall, and a positive fit between first and second components is formed.
