Method for determining rotor position of synchronous motor coupled to powertrain, involves determining rotor position angle by correlating transmitter angle with current vector phase progression
The method involves energizing the stator coils of synchronous motor (16) by incremental transmitter device (18) with test current vector to determine a timer offset between transmitter angle of the incremental transmitter device and rotor position angle of the rotor. The current vector rotation frequency is given by test current space vector and course of transmitter angle of the incremental transmitter device. The rotor position angle is determined by correlating the transmitter angle with current vector phase progression. An independent claim is included for a system for determining rotor position of synchronous motor.
