The steering system has a steering housing (4) and a torque sensor unit (10), which is accommodated in a housing pot (8). The housing pot is connected to the steering housing, and is designed as a separate plastic component. The housing pot has a recess (12) for a steering shaft (3) and is closed by a cover (9) designed as a metal component, in which another recess (13) is introduced for the steering shaft. A portion of the steering shaft is guided through the former recess in the housing pot, and another portion of the steering shaft is guided through the latter recess into the cover.
