The method involves preheating a dissolving water (2,2') for the dissolution of fiber material (12). The dissolving water is preheated by a heating pump (7), where heat is transferred from a process water (1) to the dissolving water by the heat pump such that the dissolving water is heated and the process water is cooled. The material resolution is executed in a drum pulper. The dissolving water is heated above 55 degree Celsius, particularly at 65 degree Celsius, by the heating pump. An independent claim is included for a device for energy-efficient dissolution of fiber material.
