The computer-implemented method involves determining (101) a deployment time (BZ) of a spare part (ET), and determining (102) a transportation time (TZ) for the spare part from a deployment point of the spare part to a medical system under consideration of a selected transportation unit and a transport layer (VL). A repairing time period (RZ) is determined (104) for exchange and commissioning of the spare part. A switching time (EZ) is determined (105) as sum of the deployment time, transportation time and repairing time period. Independent claims are included for the following: (1) a computer program with a program code for the execution of switching time determining method; and (2) a computer system for use in remote service center for determining a switching time of a medical system after failure and repairing of parts of the medical system.
