The waste heat utilization device has line circuit (4) in which feed pump (6), heat exchanger (8), expander (10) e.g. turbine and capacitor (12) are arranged. The line circuit is provided to circulate the working fluid. A sensor device (30) e.g. hydrocarbon sensor for detection of pollution of working fluid, is arranged in the line circuit. The sensor device is arranged between the expander and capacitor. A bypass compound (14) is connected to the sensor device using a bypass valve (16). An independent claim is included for a method for utilization of waste heat of internal combustion engine.
