The method involves measuring an amount of a temperature elevation of a portion of a component (2). Current intensity of an electric current (1) in the component is determined based on the amount of the temperature elevation, where the electric current flows through the component. The determination of the current intensity is carried out by estimation based on the amount of the temperature elevation. The determination of the current intensity is carried out by computation of amount of the temperature elevation. Electrical current intensity in a component portion is measured. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a device for determination of current intensity of an electric current in a component (2) a battery (3) a motor car.
