The invention relates to a method for calibrating a measuring device for surface test based on barkhausen noise for a predetermined geometry. The method according to the invention is characterized in that a first, of the component geometry independent calibration curve (c1) is predetermined, which shows the dependence between surfaces hardness values (sh) and measured bark hausen rausch - signals (bn) describes. For a first reference component, which corresponds to the predetermined geometry and a first surfaces hardness value (sh1) is provided, a first bark hausen rausch - signal (bn1) is determined with the measuring device. Furthermore, for a second reference component, which corresponds to the predetermined geometry and a second surfaces hardness value (sh2), the smaller than the first surfaces hardness value (sh1), a second bark hausen rausch - signal (bn2) is determined with the measuring device. Finally, a second calibration curve (c2) is determined in that the first calibration curve (c1) to the first bark hausen rausch - signal (bn1) on the first surfaces hardness value (sh1) and to the second bark hausen rausch - signal (bn2) at the second surfaces hardness value (sh2) is methods, whereby by means of the second calibration curve (c2) in the region of the measuring device the measured bark hausen rausch - signal (sh) of a component (1) with the predetermined geometry of a surface hardness value (sh) can be assigned.
