The method involves determining test values (33) during driving of a vehicle, and computing reference values (35) from the test values after adjustment of correct tire pressure in a learning phase. A warning is output if one of the test values deviates from the corresponding reference value by more than a danger threshold value (34). The deviating test values are stored in a non-volatile digital memory. A mean value of the test values, determined after the activation of the warning, is stored in the memory for operating a resetting keyboard to terminate the output of the warning. An independent claim is also included for a device for indirect monitoring of tire pressure in a vehicle.
