The method involves forming a two-layered fibrous web (W) in a forming section (1), which comprises a two-layered headbox (6) and a gap or hybrid former. The fibrous web is guided through a press section (2) which comprises press nips (N1,N2). The top of the web is pressed against a smooth surface in the last press nip of the press section. The fibrous web is dried in a cylinder drying section (3). An independent claim is included for a production line for manufacturing a three-layered material web, particularly of white top liner.
