The device has a rinsing hose (2) ended with an end (4) at a base (6) and comprising a rinsing nozzle at another end that lies opposite to the former end. The base comprises a flushing liquid supply unit i.e. high pressure pump (10), and a shut-off valve (16) for closing and/or locking the rinsing hose at the former end. A pressure sensor (14) is connected with the rinsing hose at the former end and formed in such a manner that the sensor detects the hydrostatic pressure in the rinsing hose to be locked by the shut-off valve. The shutoff valve is arranged between the sensor and rinsing hose. The rinsing hose is designed as a part of a channel inspection and/or- cleaning device. An independent claim is also included for a method for measuring a hydrostatic height of a pipe.
