The sensor and/or device (14) has a current detecting-shunt (36) comprising a resistor with an actual-value, and a power supply providing known current value over the shunt. A control device generates measured value of the current through the shunt as a function of a measured value of voltage gradient over the shunt and accepted value of the resistor. The control device detects difference between the accepted- and actual-values of the resistor when the known current value and the measured value of the current differ. An analog-to-digital converter (32) is electrically connected with a node. An independent claim is also included for a method for monitoring battery power.
