The method involves supplying a pressure stream (17) that is compressed in a main compressor unit (10), to a cryogenic unit (20). A centrifuge stream (14) that is enriched or depleted in an air component in relation to a feed air (11) i.e. oxygen, is generated from the feed air by a gas centrifuge (13). The centrifuge stream is compressed for provision of the pressure stream into the main compressor unit. The centrifuge stream supplied for provision of the pressure stream is purified in a filter unit (15). A further stream produced from the feed air is compressed in the main compressor unit. An independent claim is also included for an air treatment system.
