The interface (24) has a switch (46) e.g. MOSFET, connected in series and parallel to a resistor (42), which is connected in series between a control-pilot input (26) and a ground/network-mass input (28). The switch and another switch (40) are independently operated between open and closed positions. A reference circuit section (54) provides a reference voltage when the both switches are closed, and a control-pilot signal is received at the control-pilot input, and another reference voltage when one of the switches is opened, and the control-pilot signal is received at the control-pilot input. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a charging controller (2) a vehicle-charging system.
