The transmission (10) comprises an input element (12), an output element (22), two planetary gear sets (14,16) and two planetary gear set assemblies (18,20). Each planetary gear set is provided with three elements (14A-14C,16A-16C). Each planetary gear set assembly is provided with four elements (18A-18D,20A-20D). The six torque transmitting mechanisms are selectively engageable to interconnect four elements of two planetary gear set assemblies and three elements of two planetary gear sets so as to establish forward and reverse gears between input element and output element.
