The gearbox (10) has several interconnecting elements which are provided for continuously interconnecting the respective elements of corresponding planetary gear sets (14,16,18,20). The six torque transmitting mechanisms are selectively engageable to interconnect the primary three elements with the secondary three elements of the stationary element. The six torque transmitting mechanisms are selectively engageable in combinations of three to establish forward speed ratios and reverse speed ratio between the input element (12) and the output element (22).
