The system has time-of-flight cameras (20,210,220) at the front side of vehicle, which are connected to a control device. The cameras are configured to detect the road surface profile and to determine distance and dimension of irregularities in the overlapping monitored areas (E1, E2) of the cameras, so as to control the control system and active suspension of vehicle. An independent claim is included for method for detecting road surface profile.
