The roof has a multi-layer assembly including a sealing layer (2) and a substrate (6) located at the top of the sealing layer to receive plants (7), where the substrate is an organic substrate formed of soil. The assembly comprises a draining sheet (3) with a base sheet placed on the sealing layer and reliefs extended from the base sheet. The assembly comprises a micro-perforated flexible sheet (5) that is placed on the draining sheet in contact with hollow capsules (4) and the substrate to form an intermediate space delimited by the base sheet, the capsules and the flexible sheet. An independent claim is also included for a method for installing a plant-covered roof.
