The method involves connecting a charging circuit (CV1) of a battery to be charged (B1) of a vehicle (V1) to a charging circuit (CV2) of a bidirectional battery electricity supplier (B2). The charging circuit is utilized to perform controlled charging of the battery to be charged. A controlled power supply is forwarded to the charging circuit of the electricity supplier. The charging circuit of the electricity supplier is provided with a bidirectional charger that converts alternating voltage into direct current voltage. An independent claim is also included for a device for charging a battery powered electric or hybrid vehicle.
