Thermal treatment of aluminum alloy casting part e.g. cap housing under pressure, comprises providing portion of part in isothermal solution by electromagnetic induction, hardening the part, and obtaining the hardened part
The method comprises providing a portion (26) of a part (20) in an isothermal solution by electromagnetic induction at a temperature of 20-150[deg] C that is below of solidus of alloy during which the portion of the part is maintained at a temperature of isothermal solution for 10 minutes, hardening the part at a temperature of 0-100[deg] C, and obtaining the hardened part at a temperature of 130-200[deg] C. The step of providing the portion of the part in isothermal solution is carried out for a duration of less than 30 minutes. The method comprises providing a portion (26) of a part (20) in an isothermal solution by electromagnetic induction at a temperature of 20-150[deg] C that is below of solidus of alloy during which the portion of the part is maintained at a temperature of isothermal solution for 10 minutes, hardening the part at a temperature of 0-100[deg] C, and obtaining the hardened part at a temperature of 130-200[deg] C. The step of providing the portion of the part in isothermal solution is carried out for a duration of less than 30 minutes. The step of implementing the portion of the part in solution by electromagnetic induction is carried out, for a duration of less than 30 minutes, using an induction unit including a solenoid type inductor (30) adapted to a crankshaft bearing of the casing cap and equipped with magnetic concentrators, a set of inductors including an inductor for bearing of casing cap and a susceptor provided intermediate between the inductor and crankshaft bearing. The susceptor is a metal bar received by the casing cap. The portion of the part is cooled by immersing the part in water or additive water. An independent claim is included for an aluminum alloy part.
