The unit (10) has a metal base (11) comprising support elements forming peripheral supports. Corner pieces (12) are located in lower corners of the metal base. An intermediate support element (15) is positioned between the peripheral supports, and comprises the corner pieces adapted to cooperate with a fixing unit i.e. revolving bolt, adapted to secure the unit on a conveying unit. The support element is adapted to support a tank body (13) that is adapted to transport gas, liquid or pulverulent products. The conveying unit is a coach or a trailer or semi-trailer container. An independent claim is also included for a transport device for transporting an intermodal transport unit.
