The prosthesis (1) has a femoral component (10) including two femoral condyles (11). An intercondylar fossa (13) is defined between the femoral condyles. An intercondylar cam surface (20) is formed between the femoral condyles. The intercondylar cam surface is allowed to mechanically cooperate against a cam follower (40) at a predetermined angle in a knee flexion range. Front end of the intercondylar fossa is closed by the intercondylar cam surface.
