The assembly (2) has a conducting layer (8) including a substrate (10), and a coating electrode (12) that is formed on the substrate. A photoactive dye layer (14) with a dye carrying material (16) is formed on the substrate. A dye (18) is provided in the dye carrying material. The substrate delimits a contact surface (8A) that includes the dye carrying material. The coating electrode includes a homogeneous silver layer. A source of contact of the substrate has a roughness ranging between 3 and 20 Nm, preferably ranging between 3 and 10 Nm. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a photovoltaic cell (2) a method for manufacturing a conducting substrate/photoactive dye layer assembly.
