The device i.e. cooler (D), has an exchange unit (ME) placed in a space (E) defined by a casing (BO) of a battery (BR) to cool the space and comprising an input (EC) coupled to a cooling circuit (CR) through a hollow part, where cooling liquid circulates in the circuit. The hollow part is placed in the space and fused when temperate in the space is greater than a selected threshold value and/or when pressure in the space is greater than another selected threshold value, so that the liquid penetrates into the space before reaching the exchange unit to immerse cells (CN) installed in the space. An independent claim is also included for a battery.
