The engine has a crankshaft (7) mounted on a cylinder block to rotate a bearing (5), where the crankshaft immovably carries a pinion (11) placed axially between the bearing and an annular seal (8). The seal assures sealing of the crankshaft. The pinion includes teeth (12) placed radially beyond the seal and a disk (13) carrying the teeth. The axial dimension of the disk is lower than axial dimension of the teeth. An independent claim is also included for a power unit.
