The module has a convergent lens placed relative to an ellipsoidal reflector. A halogen light source for producing light rays is placed in the reflector, where the reflector, the lens and the source are arranged to project a light beam outside the module. A movable mask is placed between the source and the lens and adapted to be moved vertically in a progressive manner between two extreme positions to partially occult the light rays produced by the source. Movement of the mask is controlled according to an exponential control law. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a carrier vehicle (2) a method for generating a light beam from an optical module.
