The method comprises: providing a mass (20) of a metal alloy and heating the mass at a temperature higher than a melting temperature of the first mass so that the alloy is in a liquid state and occupies a space (E); moving a fiber (10) from an upstream to a downstream through the liquid mass in a direction in which the fiber extends such that the fiber is covered with a coating of the alloy of a non-zero thickness over an entire periphery of the fiber in a plane perpendicular to a main direction (D) on a portion of the length of the fiber; and providing an electrical current via the fiber. The method comprises: providing a mass (20) of a metal alloy and heating the mass at a temperature higher than a melting temperature of the first mass so that the alloy is in a liquid state and occupies a space (E); moving a fiber (10) from an upstream to a downstream through the liquid mass in a direction in which the fiber extends such that the fiber is covered with a coating of the alloy of a non-zero thickness over an entire periphery of the fiber in a plane perpendicular to a main direction (D) on a portion of the length of the fiber; providing an electrical current through the fiber between a fiber point present in contact with the alloy in the space and a fiber point that is downstream of the space, where the intensity of the current is higher than a threshold current for which the alloy remains liquid around a portion part of the fiber immediately after an end of the part contacts with the alloy mass in the space; and maintaining the electrical current until the alloy covers all the circumference of the fiber in the transverse plane perpendicular to the main direction on the part of the fiber. The method further comprises cooling the alloy on the part of the fiber after the alloy covers all the circumference of the fiber in the transverse plane perpendicular to the main direction on the part of the fiber. An independent claim is included for a device for depositing a coating of a metal alloy on a fiber.
