The method involves measuring pressure difference of exhaust gas between an inlet and an outlet of a particulate filter (8) and a volume flow of exhaust gas. Mass of soot is calculated from a function established by mass of soot according to pressure difference of exhaust gas and volume flow of exhaust gas. Coefficients are determined by inversion of a physical model expressing the pressure difference according to mass and volume flow of exhaust gas and physical characteristic of the particle filter. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a method for regeneration of a particle filter of an exhaust line of an internal combustion engine of a car (2) an electronic computer.
