The wheel has a rim (1) fixed to a hub for mounting on an axle for rotation about an axis of rotation. A heat shield (10) extends opposite an internal face of the rim, so as to protect the rim from the thermal radiation generated by a stack of disks (3) extending in use into the rim. The heat shield includes, in a portion extending between the rim and the disks, a face facing the disks. The face includes a sectional profile having a slope (alpha) relative to the axis of rotation of the wheel.
